2011–2014
Founding mark
Founded in London in 2010 by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg, and Mustafa Suleyman, DeepMind debuted a three-dimensional looping circle set in Gill Sans. The form suggests a continuous feedback loop, a visual metaphor that carried through the company's subsequent identities.

2014–2015
Post-acquisition flat
Following Google's acquisition in January 2014, the mark moved from a stacked layout to a horizontal lockup and the 3D rendering gave way to a flat, washed-out blue palette. The shift aligned the brand with the flat design conventions that dominated tech identities at the time.

After Google refreshed its own identity in September 2015, DeepMind adopted Product Sans and added the Google wordmark to the lockup. This brief era marked the only time the parent company's name appeared directly in the logo.
2016–2019
Standalone DeepMind
In late 2016 the Google prefix was removed, returning the logo to the single word DeepMind. The swirl icon remained but the color palette stayed muted, giving the brand a quieter presence during a period of rapid research growth.
2019–2023
All-blue identity
In the second half of 2019, London agency MultiAdaptor led a refresh that shifted the entire lockup to a single deep blue, unifying the icon and wordmark in one color for the first time. The bespoke typeface DM Sans was introduced, with its design commissioned through Colophon Foundry.

Google DeepMind
When Alphabet merged DeepMind with Google Brain in April 2023, the company was renamed Google DeepMind and moved to deepmind.google. MultiAdaptor, Someform Studio, and Google Brand Studio EMEA created the updated system, which pairs the refined swirl with the Google wordmark and a mathematically-inspired 3D motion language.
