1926–1933
Merger mark
When Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie. merged in 1926, the new company combined DMG's three-pointed star with the Benz laurel wreath and placed the Mercedes-Benz name in the surrounding ring. The composite mark signaled the union of two rival automotive dynasties rather than a fresh identity.
1933–1989
Star in circle
The laurel wreath was dropped and the three-pointed star was enclosed in a plain circle, a form registered by DMG as early as 1909 based on a postcard sketch Gottlieb Daimler had sent his family in the 1870s. Stripped of ornament, the encircled star became the dominant emblem for over five decades.

The silver-gradient rendering that became standard through the 1990s and 2000s reflected the premium chrome aesthetics of that period.
2008–2011
Flat oval
A brand refresh rolled out in October 2007 retained the oval and wordmark but moved away from heavy chrome gradients toward a flatter, more print-friendly treatment. The change tracked a wider shift in corporate identity away from dimensional effects.
2011–2025
Silver ring
The 2011 update separated the star from the oval and gave it a clean silver ring on a black field, allowing the symbol to stand alone without the wordmark. That star-on-black treatment became the face of the brand across digital surfaces and vehicle badges for over a decade.
2025–present · current
Flat star
Announced on February 10, 2025, the current mark strips away the dimensional ring and shadow, leaving the three-pointed star as a single-weight flat outline. The accompanying custom typeface, MB Corpo A Title Regular, replaced the previous wordmark treatment.
