1909–1963
Original Macaron
Designed by Ettore Bugatti
Ettore Bugatti placed an enameled oval badge on the radiator of the Type 13, the company's first car. The design features white lettering on red, bordered by 60 small dots said to reference the pearl motifs associated with his father Carlo, a furniture designer and jeweler.
1987–1995
Artioli Revival
Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli revived the dormant marque in 1987 and produced the EB110 supercar. The badge retained the oval macaron format but received updated proportions and cleaner linework suited to modern manufacturing.
2007–2015
Volkswagen Era
After Volkswagen Group acquired Bugatti in 1998 and relaunched it with the Veyron, the badge was updated in 2007 with darker silver framing, removed outlines, and a brighter red field. The three-dimensional letterforms and gradient treatment gave the emblem a more polished, contemporary character.

Gradient Badge
A 2015 refinement added deeper gradients to both the red field and the silver border, giving the oval emblem a more pronounced three-dimensional quality. The letterforms gained subtle geometric shading that aligned with the visual language of the Chiron era.
