History
2007–2009
AirBed & Breakfast
The founding wordmark spelled out the full name AirBed & Breakfast, set in VAG Rounded. This initial identity reflected the company's literal origin as an air-mattress rental service for conference overflow, before the concept expanded.
2009–2010
AirBnB rename
In March 2009, the company shortened its name from AirBed & Breakfast to AirBnB, and the logo followed. The Tondo typeface replaced VAG Rounded, and a tagline reading "A new way to travel" appeared beneath the wordmark, signaling a broader hospitality ambition.
2010–2014
Airbnb wordmark
A further name normalisation in October 2010 lowercased the middle letters to produce the Airbnb spelling used today. The accompanying wordmark adopted a cleaner typographic treatment as the platform grew from a niche service into an international marketplace.
