1996–2007
Microsoft era
Expedia launched on October 22, 1996, as Microsoft Expedia Travel Services, one of the first major online travel booking sites. The original logo paired a blue globe-and-plane medallion with a bold wordmark, reflecting the site's origins as a Microsoft division before a 1999 IPO separated it from the parent company.
2007–2012
Color refresh
Introduced in December 2007, this version shortened the wordmark to just "Expedia" and brightened the color palette, bringing more vivid blues and yellows to the globe-and-plane emblem. The typeface shifted to a smoother, more contemporary face as the company repositioned itself as a consumer-facing travel brand independent of Microsoft.

The trademark symbol on the icon was also changed from a superscript TM to a registered trademark circle-R.
2021–2023
Sharpened wordmark
Designed by Greene & Sons / F37
On April 15, 2021, Expedia debuted a refined identity with a crisper wordmark produced by UK type studio F37, commissioned through the Greene & Sons agency. The plane within the circular icon was repositioned and recolored with a deeper, richer yellow, and the lockup proportions were tightened throughout.

Arrow mark
Launched in March 2023, this redesign replaced the long-running plane-in-a-circle with an upward-pointing arrow set in a yellow rounded square, broadening the symbol beyond air travel to represent all trip types. A new custom typeface accompanied the icon change, completing Expedia's most substantial visual overhaul in over a decade.
