2011
Mr. Chewy
Chewy launched in June 2011 under the name Mr. Chewy, co-founded by Ryan Cohen and Michael Day in Dania Beach, Florida. The mascot-led identity featured a cartoon dog character developed to give the brand a friendly, memorable face in a crowded pet-supply market.
2011–2012
Early wordmark
As the company moved away from the Mr. Chewy mascot concept, it introduced a simplified wordmark that dropped the character illustration in favor of a rounded, lowercase logotype. This shift reflected early decisions to build the brand around the name itself rather than a character.
2012–2016
Established wordmark
A refined version of the wordmark settled into consistent use through 2016, cementing the blue rounded-sans typographic identity that became associated with the brand during its rapid growth phase. During this period Chewy expanded from a startup into one of the largest online pet retailers in the United States.
