1986–1989
Founding wordmark
Founded in Brittany in 1986 by the five Guillemot brothers, Ubisoft debuted with a chunky three-dimensional treatment of the letters U, B, and I in pinkish purple with blue shading. The handwritten-style companion text signaled the company's origin as a small mail-order software distributor.
1989–1994
ITC Lubalin Graph era
A shift to ITC Lubalin Graph Bold gave the wordmark a more structured, slab-serif character suited to retail packaging. The full name "Ubi Soft Entertainment Software" appeared in a stacked lockup that positioned the company as a broader software publisher rather than a local reseller.
1994–2003
Rainbow arch
Coinciding with the release of Rayman in October 1994, Ubi Soft adopted a multicolored arching band above the wordmark to signal its transition from distributor to original-game publisher. The arc became a consistent visual shorthand for the company across packaging and marketing for nearly a decade.
2003–2017
Swirl symbol
On September 9, 2003, the company dropped the "Soft" suffix and introduced a blue-violet spiral with an eye-like center, set alongside a wordmark in modified Microgramma Bold. The change reflected Ubisoft's move into mature-rated franchises following its acquisition of the Tom Clancy brand and titles developed for PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

Flat swirl
Designed by Method; Colophon Foundry (typeface)
Revealed on May 31, 2017 and launched publicly at E3, the redesign by Method stripped the swirl of its gradient and rendered it in flat black, while Colophon Foundry supplied the custom Ubisoft Sans typeface for the wordmark. The result trades dimensional rendering for a mark that scales cleanly across screens and merchandise.
