1996–1997
Founding wordmark
Under Armour's first mark used a bold serif-influenced wordmark spelling out the full name. Founded by Kevin Plank in 1996, the brand was just beginning to establish a visual identity alongside its moisture-wicking athletic apparel.

1997–1998
Block lettering
A revised wordmark introduced heavier, condensed block lettering that gave the brand a more industrial, athletic feel. The design reflected the company's focus on performance gear for team sports rather than lifestyle apparel.

1998–1999
Transitional mark
A short-lived variant adjusted the typeface proportions as the brand refined its visual direction. Under Armour was growing rapidly through NFL equipment room deals during this period, and identity updates followed in close succession.

1999–2005
Pre-IPO wordmark
This version of the wordmark stabilized the brand's look for several years as the company expanded beyond football into baseball and other sports. The letterforms became more compact, setting the stage for a unified identity.

Interlocking UA
The interlocking U and A monogram, introduced as the company went public in 2005, replaced the full wordmark as the primary symbol. Compact and bold, it was designed to function as an apparel mark and compete directly with Nike's Swoosh and Adidas's three stripes on garments.
