Warnock original
Designed by Marva Warnock
Marva Warnock, a graphic designer and wife of co-founder John Warnock, created the original mark at home in late 1982 when the startup could not afford an external agency. The design featured a custom stylized wordmark with the company name above a subscript line reading "SYSTEMS INCORPORATED" in Friz Quadrata.
1990–1993
Early refinement
A transitional version simplified the lockup and began moving the identity toward a cleaner typographic presentation, dropping the "SYSTEMS INCORPORATED" descriptor as Adobe grew beyond its PostScript origins.
1993–2014
Red and black
The 1993 redesign introduced the now-familiar red square enclosing a white stylized "A," with the wordmark set in Myriad Pro Semibold Condensed beneath it. This shift to red and black coincided with Adobe's expansion from a PostScript specialist into a broad creative software company.

Adobe Clean era
In May 2014 the wordmark was redrawn in Adobe Clean Bold Condensed, a proprietary typeface with early roots in Creative Suite 3 and 4. The shift away from Myriad Pro aligned the brand's external identity with the same typeface used across Adobe's product interfaces.
2020–2024
Brightened mark
Announced May 2020, this refresh brightened the red and bolded the letterforms within the existing stacked system. The update kept the overall structure intact while improving legibility at smaller digital sizes.

Unified logotype
Designed by Mother Design
Developed with Mother Design and Adobe's in-house team, using Adobe Clean Display Black modified by MCKL, this identity fused the standalone "A" symbol and the wordmark into a single integrated logotype. First appearing on Adobe's social channels in 2022, it rolled out across all channels on November 1, 2024.
