1945–1947
Early bird mark
The Chicago Cardinals adopted this simplified cardinal bird as their primary mark in the mid-1940s, one of the earliest avian logos in professional football. The design was rendered without the detail that would come in later decades.

1947–1959
Cardinal head
A more stylized cardinal head replaced the full-body bird, bringing the team's identity in line with the era's trend toward bolder, helmet-ready marks. The team won its last NFL championship in 1947 under this logo.

1960–1962
St. Louis wordmark
After relocating to St. Louis in 1960, the franchise shifted to a text-based treatment, emphasizing the new city name over the bird motif. The wordmark approach was short-lived, lasting only three seasons before the team returned to an avian symbol.

1970–2004
Cardinal profile
A refined cardinal head in profile, set against a circular field, became the team's mark through three decades and two relocations, from St. Louis to Tempe. The logo remained consistent through the move to Arizona in 1988 and was used through the 2004 season.
2005–present · current
Current cardinal
A redesigned cardinal head with sharper linework, a more angular beak, and updated cardinal red was introduced in 2005 as the franchise settled into its permanent home in Glendale, Arizona. The mark has remained in use since, appearing on helmets and uniforms through multiple playoff runs.
