1966–1972
Red rectangle wordmark
The mid-1960s mark set the airline's name in slanted uppercase letters against a red rectangle, a straightforward typographic identity suited to a regional Pacific Northwest carrier. No Eskimo figure appeared at this stage.
1972–1990
Eskimo introduction
The smiling Inuit figure, informally called "Chester" by staff, debuted on the tail in 1972 as part of a broader effort to personify the spirit of Alaska. The accompanying wordmark adopted a clean sans-serif style, and the palette settled on deep blue and white.
1990–2016
Cursive wordmark
Revealed in May 1990 and rolled out by October of that year, this version replaced the upright sans-serif with a slanted cursive wordmark in deep navy, with angular thick-stroke lettering. The Eskimo figure was retained after a short-lived removal drew public protests.

Hornall Anderson rebrand
Designed by Hornall Anderson
Hornall Anderson redesigned the mark in 2016, the airline's first comprehensive rebrand in 25 years. The Eskimo portrait was redrawn with a softer expression, the wordmark shifted to cleaner italic letterforms, and the palette expanded to include three blues alongside a tropical green accent on the hood.
