Atlas figure
Atlassian launched in 2002 with a mascot-led identity built around a stylized figure, nicknamed Charlie, holding a sky-like arc overhead. The mark drew directly from the Atlas myth and gave the bootstrapped Sydney startup a recognizable personality before its products had broad name recognition.

2008–2011
Charlie with wordmark
A wordmark in condensed sans-serif capitals joined the Charlie figure in 2008, giving the brand its first typographic anchor. The figure was redrawn with fewer curves, the arc above simplified to a single sweep, and the palette reduced to a single dark blue.

The green accent on the arc above marked a departure from the earlier all-blue palette.
2014–2017
Refined geometric
A mid-decade refinement tightened the geometry of the Charlie mark and adjusted the wordmark weight for better consistency across product interfaces. The proportions between figure and type were rebalanced as Atlassian expanded its product suite beyond Jira.
2017–2024
Mountain mark
Atlassian's in-house design team replaced Charlie with a triangular mountain-peak mark in May 2017, coinciding with a full corporate identity overhaul that renamed products and standardized the suite under a unified visual system. The mountain reads as the letter A and also as two figures supporting each other, a deliberate nod to the teamwork theme at the center of the company's positioning.

Flat refresh
A visual system refresh developed with Pentagram debuted at the Team '24 conference in 2024, bringing a flatter rendering of the mountain mark alongside Charlie Sans, a custom typeface that carries a subtle arch in the A as a reference to the original mascot. The updated system was designed to unify more than 14 products under a single parent brand.
