1922–1930
Founding wordmark
Founded in Bonn in 1920 by Hans Riegel Sr., Haribo adopted a simple black geometric wordmark from the start. The name itself is a syllabic abbreviation of the founder's name and city, and the logo treated that name as the entire identity with no embellishment.

1930–1962
Refined early mark
A modest refinement of the original wordmark adjusted the letter spacing and proportions while keeping the bold black sans-serif letterforms. The mark remained monochromatic and utilitarian, suited to the print and packaging technologies of the era.
1962–1979
Late black wordmark
Through the postwar expansion period, Haribo retained the black wordmark as the company grew across Europe. This version formalized the geometric letterforms that had been in use for four decades before the first major color introduction.

Red balloon letters
In 1979, Haribo recolored the wordmark red and rounded the letter edges, adding white highlight strokes that gave each character a balloon-like, inflated appearance. The shift from black to red aligned the logo with the brand's confectionery identity and its family-oriented marketing.

3D rendered wordmark
The 2015 update kept the red balloon letterforms but added dimensional shading, realistic lighting effects, and more pronounced white framing to give the logo a sculpted, candy-like appearance. The revision was designed to hold up across digital screens and packaging formats at small sizes.
