1987–1994
Founding mark
Founded in 1987 as a telephone switch reseller, Huawei's first identity used fifteen elongated red rays fanning upward from a central point, evoking both a flower and a rising sun. The wordmark below, set in a serif-influenced face, identified the company in full as Huawei Technologies.

1994–1998
Simplified emblem
By the mid-1990s the radiating emblem was condensed and the petal count reduced, producing a tighter, bolder mark that could hold up in print at smaller sizes. The wordmark adopted a heavier weight, reflecting the company's growth into a full-scale telecommunications equipment manufacturer.
1998–2006
Arial wordmark
A 6 March 1998 update paired the fifteen-ray flower with a clean uppercase wordmark set in Arial, stepping back from custom lettering in favor of neutral legibility. The shift coincided with Huawei's early international expansion into markets across Europe and Asia.

Chrysanthemum
Designed by Interbrand
Launched on 8 May 2006, the Interbrand redesign cut the petal count from fifteen to eight, added a three-dimensional gradient, and replaced Arial with Handel Gothic. The consolidated flower became the mark widely associated with Huawei as the company grew into one of the world's largest network infrastructure suppliers.

Flat refresh
On 27 March 2018, timed to the P20 smartphone launch, Huawei flattened the chrysanthemum by removing the 3D gradient and introduced Sweet Sans Pro to replace Handel Gothic. The result is a lighter, more versatile identity suited to high-density digital displays.
