Founding script
Vernon Rudolph founded Krispy Kreme in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1937, and the earliest marks used hand-lettered script consistent with mid-century American bakery signage. The script treatment remained largely unchanged through the company's regional expansion across the American South.
1978–1990
Stylized oval
Following Beatrice Foods' acquisition and subsequent sale back to a management group in 1982, the identity shifted to a structured oval enclosure with a more geometric letterform. The design signaled a departure from the hand-crafted look toward a cleaner, more uniform retail mark.

Sterling Brands refresh
Designed by Sterling Brands
Sterling Brands redesigned the mark in 2017, retaining the green oval but refining the custom lettering and replacing Futura with Brandon Grotesque for the "Doughnuts" tagline. The refresh modernized the overall proportions while preserving the visual vocabulary customers had associated with the brand for decades.
