Pittsburgh Plate Glass
Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company used an early wordmark identity during the interwar period. The logotype spelled out the company's full name, reflecting its origins as a manufacturer of architectural and automotive glass.
1945–1966
Postwar shield
A shield-based mark introduced in the postwar era unified the company's expanding product lines under a single graphic device. The design remained in use as PPG diversified into coatings, chemicals, and fiberglass.
1966–1987
Globe diamond
Designed by Raphael Boguslav, Lippincott & Margulies
Raphael Boguslav at Lippincott & Margulies created a globe set within a diamond frame, introduced on October 24, 1966. The mark coincided with a period of rapid corporate expansion and positioned the company as an international manufacturer rather than a regional glass producer.

Modern frame
The 2016 update centered the PPG wordmark within a simplified blue and white frame, dropping the globe to shift the company's perceived identity from an industrial conglomerate toward a global paint and coatings leader.
