Founded as Potomac Computer Systems in 1991, the company used a simple wordmark reflecting its origins as a small shareware publisher. Tim Sweeney operated the business out of his parents' home in Maryland before relocating and rebranding.

Epic Games wordmark
A cleaner, heavier sans-serif wordmark replaced the earlier design as Epic expanded into console development and middleware licensing. The mark stayed in use through the studio's major growth period, including Gears of War and the Unreal Engine 3 era.

Diamond logomark
Epic introduced a geometric diamond mark in 2015, pairing a bold white chevron shape with a dark background. The simplified symbol-based identity supported the company's expanding platform ambitions, including the Fortnite launch in 2017 and the Epic Games Store in 2018.
