Moon and Stars
Founded in 1837, Procter & Gamble used a wharf mark depicting a man-in-the-moon face encircled by thirteen stars, originally chalked on crates to distinguish them at the Cincinnati docks. The symbol became an informal trademark before the company adopted any formal corporate identity.

1882–1930
Ornate Seal
The 1882 mark formalized the moon-and-stars motif into an elaborate circular seal with detailed engraving, typical of late Victorian trade identity. This version appeared on company documents and product packaging through the early twentieth century.
1944–1953
P and G Logotype
A streamlined wordmark pairing the initials P and G replaced the seal-based marks, reflecting mid-century corporate simplification trends. The design stripped away illustrative ornament in favor of clean letterforms suited to print advertising.

Script Wordmark
Adopted on August 28, 1953, this wordmark set the full company name in a custom script, unifying the brand across a rapidly expanding consumer-goods portfolio. The flowing letterforms remained the primary corporate mark for over three decades.
1992–2013
P&G Blue Wordmark
A sans-serif wordmark using the P&G abbreviation introduced a cleaner, more international identity suited to the company's growing global operations. The design dropped the script in favor of geometric letterforms set in corporate blue.

175th Anniversary Mark
Designed by Landor Associates
Designed by Landor Associates and introduced in May 2013 to mark the company's 175th anniversary, this version places the P&G wordmark inside a circle with a crescent moon, reviving the historic wharf symbol. It is used alongside the standalone wordmark rather than replacing it entirely.
