1890–1964
Dairy farm mark
George Wood founded Wawa Dairy Farm in 1890 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and the goose appeared on dairy packaging from the early 1900s onward. The name derives from the Lenni-Lenape word for Canada goose, connecting the mark to the region where geese gathered near the company's first milk plant.

1964–1974
Food Market era
When Grahame Wood opened the first Wawa Food Market in Folsom, Pennsylvania in 1964, the brand carried over its dairy-heritage wordmark into the new retail context. The text-forward design reflected the company's transition from home delivery to storefront retail without yet adopting a standalone goose symbol.

<img src="https://img.logo.dev/wawa.com?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" alt="wawa.com logo" />A new logo introduced in 1974, created through an internal contest won by a Villanova University student who also worked part-time at a Wawa store, placed a flying goose on a circular gold-and-brown background. This was the first version to establish the goose as the dominant visual element of the mark, a position it has held ever since.
1987–2001
Corporate mark
An updated mark adopted in 1987 refined the goose and corporate wordmark into a cleaner configuration used on store signage, packaging, and uniforms as the chain expanded across the Mid-Atlantic. The design maintained the circular framing from the previous era while modernizing the typography.
2001–2012
Red and gold
A 2004 update shifted the palette to a light red wordmark paired with a yellow goose, moving away from the earlier monochrome gray-and-black scheme. This version accompanied the chain's growth into new markets and appeared on signage during the period when Wawa added fuel stations to many locations.
2012–present · current
Current mark
The current logo, introduced around 2012, consolidates the red wordmark and goose into a tighter, higher-contrast composition suited to the company's expansion into Florida and other new markets. The goose retains its flight posture from the 1974 original while the overall mark is scaled for digital and large-format store applications.
